Ryan Honeycutt, Redeemer Claremore, Arkansas attended the Annual Oklahoma District Pastors White River Trout Fishing Retreat 2019 at Rainbow Drive Resort on the White River in North Central Arkansas, August 11-14.
With two days of fishing the group brought in somewhere around their limit of 90 trout. Rev. Glenn Meyer won the largest fish prize with his 20 inch Rainbow, seconded by his 19 inch Rainbow. Besides Rainbow Trout the group also caught Brown, Cutthroat, and Brook Trout. Many more Trout were caught and released, or lost before being netted. The Annual Trout Fishing Retreat was first started by Rev. Myles R. Schultz while serving Trinity Lutheran Church in Okmulgee, and the tradition has been carried on following his retirement in 2015 by Rev. Rick Tabisz of King of Kings, Glennpool.
Morning Devotions were led by Rev. Boster, Second Vice President of the Oklahoma District, and Rev. Glenn Meyer, Director of Pastoral Care of the Oklahoma District. Both brought encouraging words for pastors, Rev. Meyer led the group in a study and evaluation of the effects of being caregivers, especially as it pertains to being a pastor, while providing a number of resources for any experiencing “burnout.”
This annual retreat is intended to bring Oklahoma District Pastors together for a few days of fun and relaxation while building a sense of comradery.
