SCHEDULE (click here)

Dear fellow workers in God's Kingdom,

At the beginning of this new year, I wanted to remind you of a few continuing education opportunities
or which you do not even need to leave our district.

January 27-29 Pre-Lent Retreat and Preaching workshop:

This retreat begins Sunday evening and concludes Tuesday at noon. The retreat will be a time for relaxing and renewal as well as a look ahead planning Lenten services. Pastor David Fleming will be our presenter on the Passion of Christ according to St. Luke. Attached is a registration form that contains more information. If you are interested in attending please send in your registration or get in touch with me as soon as possible.

Second, we have two reading groups that meet within our district on a monthly basis to discuss a variety of books, essays, and articles. The reading list for 2019 is attached. If you are interested in participating let me know and I will try to connect you with either the Tusla group, or the Ponca City group, or with other interested parties near you to form a new group.

The Panhandle Circuit is also making preparations for a Continuing education course to be offered at Lutherhaven Retreat Center in the summer. Expect more details at the Spring Church Workers Conference.

If you have any questions about these opportunities, or suggestions for future events, please contact me.

Pastor David Fleming will lead our preaching workshop on The Passion of Christ according to St. Luke.    David C Fleming serves as Senior Pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, Michigan and as Doxology’s Associate Director of Spiritual Care. (Doxology is the Lutheran Center for Spiritual Care and Counsel, an RSO of the LCMS).  He’s authored preaching resources for CPH, Concordia Pulpit Resources, and the Northern Illinois District. He’s spoken at the Good Shepherd Institute; pastoral conferences in the Michigan, Central Illinois, and Northern Illinois Districts; and at several Doxology events. He’s written on pastoral care especially on care for children of divorce, the use of faithful art, and the use of story.

Pastor Fleming was a graduate assistant in Pastoral Ministry at Concordia Theological Seminary and has served as a pastor in the LCMS since 1987. He and Jo, his wife, have three adult children—one of whom studied Letters (classics) at the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
